Studio: A Grotesque Doll Destroys the Doorway To Nightmare Cast
Game plan
In this terrifyingly meta episode of Doorway To Nightmare, titled "Studio," the show's actual voice cast gathers to record a strange, unlisted script. The eerie atmosphere turns downright fatal when a mysterious package is delivered to the recording studio. Inside is a horrid, grotesque doll that harbors a malicious supernatural entity.
Before anyone can stop it, the evil spirit possesses one of the ensemble cast members. Trapped inside the isolated studio, the voice actors watch in horror as their possessed colleague turns a fictional script into a real-life massacre, systematically hunting and killing the remaining members of the group. Tune into this claustrophobic, behind-the-scenes horror audio drama to find out who survives the ultimate final cut.

Speaker 1: When you sleep, you enter into another world. Beyond that world lies the doorway to nightmare.
Speaker 2: Okay, so we start with the standard theme. going to opening theme music, and then the host, he'll come in later and do those tracks. In the meantime, is everybody here?
Speaker 3: Ready for my close-up, Mr.
Speaker 1: DeVille.
Speaker 4: Yes, Swan, we're here.
Speaker 2: Where's Crimson? Well?
Speaker 5: I'm here.
Speaker 2: I'm here.
Speaker 5: I'm here.
Speaker 2: Thank you for gracing us with your presence.
Speaker 5: Sorry I'm late. Well, almost late. I'm here. He's in a mood today.
Speaker 2: Sorry, the mic didn't pick that up. What?
Speaker 6: I said we're all here today!
Speaker 2: Thank you. Okay, I hope everyone has actually read the script.
Speaker 3: Got me playing a cop again, I see.
Speaker 5: It's called typecasting, Dio.
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, very funny.
Speaker 4: I have a question.
Speaker 2: Yes?
Speaker 4: So, do you want me to sound klutzy, or should I be older or younger?
Speaker 2: Just do the best you can. If I want you to redo something, that won't be a problem. Okay, and, uh... Brenna, apparently there's a filter or something on your mic. Don't worry about it. We're just, this is like a first take anyway. So just do the best you can and I'll fix it in post. I would like to try to get through at least one play with everyone in the same room.
Speaker 5: Sure, okay.
Speaker 2: Okay, beginning with act one.
Speaker 5: No kidding.
Speaker 2: It's Crimson and William. Let me get the ambient sound going.
Speaker 2: And action.
Speaker 1: Dr.
Speaker 3: Young, I am well aware of my duties.
Speaker 6: It's a priceless collection.
Speaker 5: Are you sure?
Speaker 6: I mean, absolutely sure. All of the security measures are set up correctly.
Speaker 3: I've been doing this for over 20 years. Everything that you ask for is in place. Laser grids, sign-on alarms, extra officers.
Speaker 6: Motion detectors? You did get the motion detectors.
Speaker 5: Didn't you?
Speaker 1: Yes, ma'am.
Speaker 3: Everything is installed and tested yesterday.
Speaker 6: I can't believe the museum acquired such an artifact.
Speaker 5: Hey, Swan.
Speaker 2: Yes, cut the tape.
Speaker 6: Should I be more excited with that line or just sort.
Speaker 5: Of matter of fact?
Speaker 2: Um, yeah, more excited.
Speaker 5: Okay.
Speaker 6: I can't believe the museum acquired such an artifact.
Speaker 5: Something like that?
Speaker 2: Yeah, that works. Okay, let's pick it up from Willie's line. Rolling tape.
Speaker 3: Yes, ma'am. Everything was installed and tested yesterday.
Speaker 6: I can't believe the museum acquired such an artifact.
Speaker 3: What exactly is it?
Speaker 6: Oh, it's only a ceremonial Mayan statue. It's supposed to hold an evil spirit inside that possesses the living and destroys everyone around it.
Speaker 3: Destroys?
Speaker 2: How?
Speaker 5: Oh, the usual way.
Speaker 6: Ripping hearts out, decapitation, tearing bones out one by one.
Speaker 3: As long as it stays put, I'm okay with that.
Speaker 2: Okay, okay, cut, cut it. Who the hell came in?
Speaker 4: Some guy delivered a package. He just left.
Speaker 2: I mean, what's the point in turning the red light on outside the door if anyone is just going to walk in?
Speaker 5: Wow, he must be having a bad day. Want me to open it?
Speaker 2: No, it's probably for whoever has the studio next.
Speaker 5: Don't have to bite my head off.
Speaker 2: I'm sorry, the mic didn't pick you up. What did you say?
Speaker 6: I said we're ready when you are.
Speaker 2: Okay, let's pick it up from your line, Crimson. Brenna, you enter in right as she finishes her line, but walk up to the mic.
Speaker 4: Got it.
Speaker 2: Okay, roll tape.
Speaker 6: Oh, the usual way. Ripping out hearts, decapitation.
Speaker 5: Um, Swan, can I just say cutting the heads off?
Speaker 2: Oh, sure. Cut, edit here. And we are still rolling.
Speaker 5: Oh, the usual way.
Speaker 6: Ripping out hearts, cutting heads off, ripping the bones one by one.
Speaker 3: I get the picture.
Speaker 2: Dr.
Speaker 4: Young, the artifact just arrived. I had them put it in the lab.
Speaker 5: Thank you.
Speaker 2: Um.
Speaker 6: It's Janice.
Speaker 5: Right, Janice.
Speaker 4: Janice Wyatt. I'm your research assistant.
Speaker 5: What happened to Nina?
Speaker 4: She had a class today, so she asked me to fill in.
Speaker 5: Okay, well, let's go see our new acquisition.
Speaker 2: And music cue. Okay. Everyone happy with that?
Speaker 4: Was that okay? I mean, I can do it again.
Speaker 5: You were fine.
Speaker 2: Well, unless someone isn't happy, it sounded fine to me.
Speaker 3: Why are we doing this like we usually do?
Speaker 2: What do you mean?
Speaker 3: Well, you do everybody separately and put it all together. What happened with that?
Speaker 2: I just wanted to do one play with everyone together. That way you could react off of each other.
Speaker 1: Okay, just asking.
Speaker 6: You will notice that he's not in this one. Maybe he should come down here and try this. Stand up all the time, reading lines and trying to act.
Speaker 2: Crimson, the mic keeps going out on you. What did you say?
Speaker 6: I said we're ready to keep going.
Speaker 2: Okay, second scene. Inside the museum. This will be all three of you. Brenna, there should be some paper down there for a sound effect of opening a box.
Speaker 4: I don't see any.
Speaker 2: Oh. Please don't tell me I forgot it.
Speaker 3: Okay, you didn't forget it.
Speaker 2: Oh, very funny. Damn.
Speaker 6: Why can't we just open the package that's here?
Speaker 2: Because it isn't ours?
Speaker 6: Well, the address has doorway to nightmare on it.
Speaker 2: Really? Okay, we can use that.
Speaker 4: So, just tear the paper off and open the box?
Speaker 2: Yeah, that'll be it. I set up a mic on the table to make sure that we get the sound... So just open it as close to the mic as you can.
Speaker 4: Slow and careful, or should I just rip it open?
Speaker 2: Oh, you decide. Okay, people, we only have the studio for another couple of hours, so let's see if we can get through this thing.
Speaker 3: Ready when you are, Mr.
Speaker 1: DeVille.
Speaker 2: Okay, rolling tape. First line is crimson.
Speaker 6: Janice, just be really careful when you open that.
Speaker 2: Okay, Dr. Young.
Speaker 4: This is kind of exciting. Sort of like Christmas.
Speaker 2: Oh, my.
Speaker 4: What a horrible looking thing.
Speaker 3: It's not going to win any beauty pageants.
Speaker 1: Maybe for most gruesome.
Speaker 5: Hey, Swan!
Speaker 2: And stopping tape again. Yes, Crimson?
Speaker 6: There really is an ugly looking statue in the box.
Speaker 2: And?
Speaker 5: Well, that's kind of weird, don't you think?
Speaker 2: We deal in weird, remember? This is a horror show.
Speaker 4: I think what Miss McKenzie is trying to say is that it's kind of a peculiar coincidence that we're doing a play about a possessed statue and there's a statue that gets delivered.
Speaker 3: Kind of gives me chills. I mean, look at that thing.
Speaker 6: Swan, can we just put this thing somewhere?
Speaker 5: Like, out of sight?
Speaker 2: It's probably a gift from a fan. Yeah, a crimson, just put it anywhere.
Speaker 4: I'll put it behind the sound screen.
Speaker 5: Crap. What happened?
Speaker 4: There was some kind of pendant hanging on it. When I put the statue down, the pendant fell off.
Speaker 5: As long as I don't have to look at it.
Speaker 3: Here, here.
Speaker 2: Okay, if everyone is happy and relaxed, can we get back to the play now?
Speaker 5: Whatever your highness.
Speaker 2: Crimson, I may have to come down there and change that mic out. I'm still not picking you up.
Speaker 5: Ready when you are.
Speaker 2: Okay, let's just pick it up from Willie's line, Miss Gruesome. And rolling cape.
Speaker 3: It's not going to win any beauty pageants. Maybe for Miss Gruesome.
Speaker 4: There seems to be some kind of parchment with it.
Speaker 5: Be careful. Let me see.
Speaker 6: It's in Mayan.
Speaker 3: What does it say?
Speaker 6: Sorry, my Mayan is a little rusty. Um, Swan, I thought she was an expert.
Speaker 2: And?
Speaker 6: Well, shouldn't my character be able to translate it, at least?
Speaker 2: Okay, so... Skip a couple of lines and see what it says.
Speaker 6: Don't you know your own script?
Speaker 2: Well, it's not my script.
Speaker 5: Really?
Speaker 6: But I thought you wrote all the scripts.
Speaker 2: This was sent to me by a dedicated fan that asked me to try and do something with it. He said he would love to hear it for our Doorway to Nightmares series. I just didn't have time to give it to you to edit.
Speaker 3: You mean you let someone else write a script for a change?
Speaker 2: Well, I read it and thought it might be okay.
Speaker 5: Well, who wrote it?
Speaker 6: I mean, there isn't a name on the first page.
Speaker 2: Oh, that's funny. I could have sworn.
Speaker 4: Hey, I think it's pretty cool so far. Let's keep going.
Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll keep going. Roll tape.
Speaker 6: But what about the Mayan line?
Speaker 2: Oh, Crimson, just wing it.
Speaker 5: I'd like to see you wing it.
Speaker 2: That stupid mic. What did you say?
Speaker 5: I said maybe I could sing it.
Speaker 2: Can we get rolling now, please?
Speaker 5: Let me see that.
Speaker 6: According to this, the statue is a portal to the underworld? A demon can be let loose.
Speaker 5: To destroy someone's enemies. There's a warning.
Speaker 3: Isn't there always?
Speaker 4: What is the warning?
Speaker 6: The amulet that the statue wears.
Speaker 5: is the only way.
Speaker 6: To keep the demon at bay. It should only be removed when the proper incantation is invoked.
Speaker 3: Make sure that thing's necklace is on at all times.
Speaker 1: Got it.
Speaker 6: Janice, I think we can move the statue to the display case, but just please be careful.
Speaker 4: Don't worry, I will.
Speaker 2: Damn!
Speaker 5: What happened?
Speaker 4: The amulet broke off.
Speaker 3: Yep, made in China.
Speaker 2: Crimson, you have the next line. Crimson? Hey, Crimson!
Speaker 3: Uh, give her a second, Swan. She's white as a sheet.
Speaker 4: Are you okay?
Speaker 5: I'm okay. Just had a cold chill.
Speaker 2: You need anything?
Speaker 5: No, no, I'm okay.
Speaker 6: Just a little deja vu. When Willie said his line, it was the same thing that he had said about the statue down here.
Speaker 2: Hey.
Speaker 3: That's what's written. I said it okay, didn't I?
Speaker 5: Oh, you were fine.
Speaker 6: You just sent a chill right through me.
Speaker 2: Then the rest of this should be great. Okay, I think that was the end of Act 1. Now, Music Cue, Host Cue, Commercial, Act 2, Cue Theme, Cue Host, and we move on, good people. And Willie, I think you had the first line.
Speaker 3: Yes, boss.
Speaker 1: I got it.
Speaker 4: Do you want this part a little more forceful?
Speaker 2: Yeah, Brenda, that should be fine. Crenson, are you sure you're okay?
Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm good. Let's just get through this so I can go home.
Speaker 2: Okay, rolling tape.
Speaker 3: So, what happened to that amulet?
Speaker 5: Janice, did you see where it went?
Speaker 4: I've looked everywhere. I can't find it.
Speaker 5: Well, it didn't just walk away.
Speaker 2: Oh, I.
Speaker 6: I hate to think what the underwriters will say.
Speaker 3: It's just a stupid necklace. I mean, amulet. I'm sure it'll turn up.
Speaker 4: Did anyone else hear that?
Speaker 3: Maybe it's the plumbing.
Speaker 4: Sure, that's what it was.
Speaker 3: They will spend two million dollars on a security system, but not five bucks on a new pipe.
Speaker 6: At least the statue is safe now. Opening is tomorrow, and I understand that tickets have sold out.
Speaker 1: Where is it?
Speaker 5: What did you say, Janice?
Speaker 2: Um, nothing.
Speaker 3: You mean people's paid money to come and see this? This thing?
Speaker 5: That's what we're here for.
Speaker 6: To display these artifacts in the interest of. In the interest of....
Speaker 7: Of....
Speaker 6: Swan, are you picking anything up?
Speaker 2: What do you mean?
Speaker 5: You mean you didn't hear that?
Speaker 4: I thought I heard something, too.
Speaker 2: Well, hang on. Let me back the tape up.
Speaker 5: That's what we're here for.
Speaker 6: To display these artifacts in the interest of.
Speaker 5: In the interest of.
Speaker 6: Swan, are you picking anything up?
Speaker 2: Okay, that was weird.
Speaker 3: I got something stranger.
Speaker 5: What?
Speaker 1: Take a look at the script.
Speaker 2: What is it?
Speaker 5: Part of the script is missing?
Speaker 2: What do you mean missing?
Speaker 6: Like, the rest of the pages are blank.
Speaker 2: Blank? But that's crazy.
Speaker 5: You're right. Okay, what's going on?
Speaker 2: The script was complete this morning, I swear it.
Speaker 4: Do you remember what happens?
Speaker 3: We all died in the end. You never see it coming.
Speaker 5: Not now, Willie.
Speaker 2: Swan!
Speaker 6: What happens in the script?
Speaker 2: Uh, honestly, I don't know.
Speaker 5: What do you mean you don't know?
Speaker 2: Well, I only read up until where you just stopped. I thought I would kind of discover it with you guys. I had a few alternates in mind.
Speaker 5: Brenna?
Speaker 6: You okay?
Speaker 3: Hey, Swan. What's going on?
Speaker 2: Maybe we can just ad-lib something.
Speaker 5: Swan? Something's wrong with Brenna.
Speaker 7: You will all die.
Speaker 3: Holy.
Speaker 2: Hey, what's going on down there?
Speaker 7: You have released me.
Speaker 3: What the hell are you doing?
Speaker 2: Willie!
Speaker 5: Are you okay?
Speaker 2: Damn.
Speaker 3: Girl's got a heck of a right cross.
Speaker 7: You will all die.
Speaker 6: Swan, get your ass down here now!
Speaker 2: Get out. Everybody, get out of here now!
Speaker 5: Come on, Willie. Let's get out of here.
Speaker 7: There is no escape.
Speaker 3: Get the door open.
Speaker 6: I'm trying. It won't open.
Speaker 3: I don't want to hit.
Speaker 7: Ugh!
Speaker 6: Willie!
Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
Speaker 5: Brenna? Stay away from me.
Speaker 7: His heart was delicious. How does yours taste?
Speaker 5: It tastes bad. Really salty.
Speaker 6: No!
Speaker 5: Stay away! Swan! Do something!
Speaker 2: No! No! Crimson? Willie? Brenna.
Speaker 7: I'll be with you in a moment.
Speaker 1: Oh, crap. Hello.
Speaker 2: Yeah, I need help. Yes, 832 Peachtree Place Suite 7. Yes, the recording studio.
Speaker 3: I need an ambulance.
Speaker 2: Cops.
Speaker 3: The hell, the National Guard.
Speaker 7: They're... They're... They're... You look very, very tasty. Which one of you is next?
Speaker 1: Our mystery drama studio was written especially for Doorway to Nightmare by Winslow Swan and edited by Crimson McKenzie. Our cast included Crimson McKenzie, William Stafford, Brenna Faith, and Winslow Swan. The entire production with... Oh, hey, you're not supposed to be in here.
Speaker 2: I'm re....
Speaker 1: Oh, God.
Speaker 2: No.
Speaker 1: No!
Speaker 7: God! Which one of you is next?
