Speaker 1: With this key, you unlock the world to your dreams. What lies beyond could be the doorway to nightmare.
Speaker 2: Nightmare.
Speaker 1: Come in, welcome, I'm your host through the doorway to nightmares. My soul is full of longing for the secrets of the sea, and the heart of the great ocean sends a thrilling pulse through me. The poetry of Longfellow. You can almost hear the rolling ocean, feel the tide, and be mesmerized by the sound.
Speaker 3: Happy, darling? Oh, David!
Speaker 4: It's the most beautiful house that I've ever seen! Yes, I am very happy. And the view from the cliff is like the end of the world and beyond. It's only ocean.
Speaker 3: Which is why I built the house here, right on the cliffs.
Speaker 4: Oh, I couldn't be happier.
Speaker 3: Just promise me something.
Speaker 4: Anything, my love.
Speaker 3: Promise me that you won't come to Horizon Point alone.
Speaker 4: I don't understand.
Speaker 3: Just promise me. I don't ever want to lose you.
Speaker 1: Our mystery drama, Horizon Point, was written especially for your way to nightmare by Winslow Swan and edited by Crimson McKenzie. Our stars include Winslow Swan, Crimson McKenzie, and Dave Arkapov. It is sponsored in part by Swanage Press. I'll be back shortly with Act One.
Speaker 5: There, underneath your bed, there is some thing, and it's waiting, waiting for another story. No one is afraid of monsters anymore, and other stories to read to the thing under the bed by Winslow Swan. Paperback editions available at Amazon.com. Audiobook edition available at Spotify. No one is afraid of monsters anymore and other stories to read to the thing under the bed. Eight terrifying tales for you to enjoy and to read to the thing under your bed. Get it before the thing gets you.
Speaker 1: If you happen to be driving along the coast, you may come across a solitary road. By taking this little detour, you may find yourself on top of Horizon Point, a cliff that overlooks the ocean from over a thousand feet above. It's a rather picturesque place to be unless you are there alone.
Speaker 4: Oh, the sea. The raging sea. It makes such a thunder sound against the jagged rocks below. The crashing of the waves and the feel of the wind. A cold wind against my cheeks. I was so happy. Only a month ago, I was so happy.
Speaker 3: Happy, darling?
Speaker 4: Oh, Dave! I just can't believe it! How could I have let you talk me into marriage?
Speaker 3: Sandra, I told you. I'm a very persuasive fellow.
Speaker 4: My hope will be happy with his new wife.
Speaker 3: Oh, you make me very happy, Sandra.
Speaker 4: If this house that you keep talking about is as handsome as you are, we're going to have a lifetime of happiness. It was a beautiful house. Sitting atop of Horizon Point by the sea. The pounding sea. At night I could hear the waves crashing, and the sound would lull me to sleep. But my happiness did not last for very long.
Speaker 3: Still not sleeping.
Speaker 4: Oh, Dave, I don't know what's wrong with me. Every night for the past week I've been hearing the strangest sounds.
Speaker 3: Well, the ocean does sound a little more mysterious at night. I suppose I don't notice them anymore. Something that you will eventually get used to.
Speaker 4: No, David. It's not the sound of the ocean. It sounds like someone whispering. I can't quite make out the words, but it definitely is someone saying.
Speaker 3: Oh, darling, let's be reasonable. This house has been battered by storms and rain since it was built. It's probably just the wind blowing through the small holes that have been created.
Speaker 4: It's just unnerving.
Speaker 3: There isn't a lot I can do about it, dear. Now don't worry. It's only the wind and the sea.
Speaker 6: Afternoon, Mrs.
Speaker 1: Winwood.
Speaker 4: Good afternoon, Mr. Vincenzo. I've been meaning to tell you how beautiful the grounds are. You do remarkable work.
Speaker 3: Thank you, ma'am.
Speaker 4: This is the first chance I've had to talk to you. It really is quite beautiful up here.
Speaker 6: So you are the new Mrs. Wynwood.
Speaker 4: Well, I am the Mrs.
Speaker 6: Wynwood.
Speaker 1: Mr.
Speaker 6: Wynwood never told you about his first wife?
Speaker 4: Oh, yes. I believe her name was Rebecca?
Speaker 6: Yes, ma'am.
Speaker 4: I understand that she committed suicide.
Speaker 6: Left right off Horizon Point.
Speaker 4: Poor girl.
Speaker 6: That is, if you believe Mr.
Speaker 1: Wynwood.
Speaker 4: What do you mean?
Speaker 6: I talked to her the morning that she jumped. She told me some things that, well, perhaps I've said too much already.
Speaker 4: No, please, tell me.
Speaker 6: She had been roaming around the grounds for days looking for something. Said there must be someone else here who tries to talk to her at night. I assured her that no one else except for myself lived on the grounds.
Speaker 4: Did she tell you what that someone said?
Speaker 2: Yes, ma'am.
Speaker 6: She told me that the voice kept saying, Peace no more.
Speaker 1: I have lived by the ocean in my lifetime and, like Sandra, found the sound of the waves quite soothing and peaceful. I have never heard a voice whispering to me. I'll be back shortly with Act Two.
Speaker 7: The only witness to her murder cannot speak. Until now.
Speaker 2: Click.
Speaker 4: A Tale of.
Speaker 7: Revenge by Winslow Swan. Now available on Amazon. Revenge is a dish best served.
Speaker 1: John F. Kennedy once said, We are tied to the ocean, and when we go back to the sea, Whether it is to sail or to watch, we are going back from whence we came.
Speaker 4: Oh, the sound fills my ears and penetrates my brain. It fills me with such sadness as I stand here on Horizon Point. watching the waves so far down below,
Speaker 4: so far below, crashing into the rocks. Oh, Dave, why did you not believe me? Why didn't you tell me?
Speaker 3: Well, there was nothing to tell. Rebecca was, well, a very sick young woman. She imagined all sorts of things.
Speaker 4: Like a whispering voice in the night?
Speaker 3: Are we on that again?
Speaker 8: It's only the wind.
Speaker 4: Then what would have driven her to suicide?
Speaker 3: I don't know. She was always sort of a sad girl. Always talking about feeling depressed. I tried. Believe me, I tried to get her help, but she refused.
Speaker 4: And what about me? Am I just a silly, sad girl?
Speaker 3: No, of course not. The only thing that you have in common with Rebecca is that neither of you are accustomed to living anywhere near the ocean. The sea has its own language that speaks to its residents in different ways.
Speaker 3: I mean, what is it with all the questions about Rebecca? Oh, wait a minute. You've been talking with Mr. Vincenzo, haven't you?
Speaker 4: He did mention something about.
Speaker 3: My first wife committed suicide. She walked up to Horizon Point, and for some reason that no one, not even Mr. Vincenzo, knows why she decided to take her own life. I see no reason to drag it all up again.
Speaker 4: I'm sorry, darling.
Speaker 1: No, no, I.
Speaker 3: I'm sorry. It was devastating to me. Then I meet you. And for the first time, I finally felt normal again. I love you, Sandra.
Speaker 4: And I believed you, David. I truly believed you. You knew nothing of my inheritance, and you never even asked if I had money. Not like the other suitors in my life. You were different, or at least I thought so.
Speaker 3: Here you are, Sandra. I brought you a nightcap.
Speaker 4: Oh, Dave, you're so sweet. I don't think I need one tonight, though.
Speaker 1: Now, come on.
Speaker 3: It might help you sleep. I haven't been sleeping well, and I thought this might help.
Speaker 4: Thank you, David.
Speaker 3: Are you still taking the pills?
Speaker 4: Yes, and I am very tired.
Speaker 3: The doctor said that they should help you sleep. You know I just want you to get better.
Speaker 9: Sleep no.
Speaker 2: More.
Speaker 9: What?
Speaker 10: What?
Speaker 4: Who's there? I can't see anyone. Who's there?
Speaker 11: No!
Speaker 9: Stay away!
Speaker 2: Stay away!
Speaker 4: She doesn't want me here. I've intruded and married the man that she loved. Sleep no more? I can't sleep anyway.
Speaker 4: And the ocean calls to me. Calls to me.
Speaker 3: Then go to it! Why couldn't you have just jumped like Rebecca?
Speaker 1: You would think that it would now be the end of our story. The murderous David Wynwood has gotten away with his crime. I can assure you that terror awaits ahead when I return with Act Three.
Speaker 4: It is in all of us. Waiting.
Speaker 7: Watching.
Speaker 4: Growing.
Speaker 7: Evil Within. By Winslow Swan. Now available on Amazon.
Speaker 1: It is said that the waters are the beginning and end of all things on earth. They certainly were the end of Mrs. Sandra Wynwood. It has been a week since her fall from Horizon Point. The funeral has been held, and the mourners have all gone to their respective homes, including David Wynwood.
Speaker 6: Mr.
Speaker 3: Wynwood?
Speaker 1: Yes? Oh, Mr.
Speaker 8: Vincenzo.
Speaker 6: I'm sorry about Mrs. Wynwood.
Speaker 3: Yes, quite a shock.
Speaker 6: She always seemed to be going to Horizon Point. Never understood why. But then... First, Mrs. Winwood used to do the same thing, didn't she, Mr.
Speaker 1: Winwood?
Speaker 3: I'm not really sure what you are driving at.
Speaker 6: I'm just saying that it seems funny you losing both of your wives to suicide.
Speaker 3: Perhaps you had best be careful what you were saying, Mr. Vincenzo.
Speaker 6: Oh, I'm not saying anything.
Speaker 3: Oh, be sure that you don't. Sandra's death was ruled as a suicide, and that should be the end of it.
Speaker 6: Guess you might want these back then.
Speaker 3: What is it?
Speaker 6: Oh, just a bottle of pills I found out by the point.
Speaker 2: What?
Speaker 6: Weren't these the ones that Mrs. Winwood was taking?
Speaker 3: What are you getting at?
Speaker 6: I showed them to a friend of mine, a pharmacist. Told him they had been prescribed to me for sleeping. He told me to find a new doctor. These pills are downers. They can cause depression in a normally happy person.
Speaker 3: Well, perhaps your friend made a mistake.
Speaker 1: Maybe.
Speaker 6: But I didn't mistake the small speakers I found, did I?
Speaker 3: I think that I've just about had enough.
Speaker 6: Along with a tape that had a woman's voice saying, Sleep no more?
Speaker 3: What are you after, Vincenzo?
Speaker 6: Just enough to live comfortably. Say, a thousand a week.
Speaker 3: Oh, you're insane if you think.
Speaker 6: Did I mention my good friend the pharmacist? He's holding a package for me with instructions on what to do in case something happened to me. Do you understand now, Mr.
Speaker 8: Wynwood?
Speaker 1: Farewell, Sandra.
Speaker 3: Though we are parted, I promise to live my life with your memory in my heart. And your money in my pocket.
Speaker 4: David?
Speaker 1: What?
Speaker 11: Who is that?
Speaker 4: It's me, David. Your beloved. Don't cry.
Speaker 8: I wasn't, but.
Speaker 3: But how?
Speaker 4: We took our vows.
Speaker 12: And when I repeated, till death do us part, I whispered, Longer. I want you for all time and beyond.
Speaker 3: No, you're dead.
Speaker 12: And what of me, David?
Speaker 1: Rebecca?
Speaker 3: Was it.
Speaker 2: I your love?
Speaker 4: Why, David?
Speaker 1: No, no.
Speaker 3: Don't come near me. But we love you, David.
Speaker 4: Don't you want us anymore? Yes, David. Look at us. Look how beautiful we are.
Speaker 9: No!
Speaker 3: Both of you, stay away from me!
Speaker 2: Mr.
Speaker 1: Winwood!
Speaker 3: Come away from the edge. Vincenzo, help me. Don't you see them?
Speaker 1: Mr.
Speaker 6: Wynwood, there's no one here. Step away from the edge.
Speaker 4: You will be with us, David.
Speaker 12: You will be with us.
Speaker 9: With us, David.
Speaker 12: You will be with us.
Speaker 13: For all time.
Speaker 4: No, no.
Speaker 11: You're both dead.
Speaker 1: Mr.
Speaker 3: Wynwood, look out.
Speaker 14: With us.
Speaker 3: Stay away from me.
Speaker 14: Stay away from me!
Speaker 4: Stay away from me!
Speaker 3: Stay away from me!
Speaker 1: Eternity begins and ends with the ocean's tides. For David Wynwood, his eternity is just beginning. I'll return shortly for the final word.

Speaker 1: David Wynwood's death was ruled as a suicide due to the testimony of Mr. Vincenzo. However, something was erased. from the transcript that the groundskeeper had testified to. He swore that he indeed saw two females pushing David over the edge of Horizon Point. Our cast included Winslow Swan, Crimson McKenzie, and Dave Arkopov. The story was edited by Crimson McKenzie, and the entire production was under the direction of Winslow Swan.
Speaker 1: And now, a preview of our next tale.
Speaker 15: This is a one-time offer which terminates almost immediately.
Speaker 1: You ain't real.
Speaker 15: Oh, I assure you that I am very real. You said you want to be the greatest musician alive. I can make that possible. All it takes is a simple signature.
Speaker 1: Doorway to Nightmare is brought to you in part by Swanage Press. This is your host, inviting you to return with us through the doorway to nightmare for another adventure into the world of your terrifying imagination. Until next time, slumber peacefully. Epilogue The butler did it. With this key, you unlock the world to your dreams. What lies beyond could be the doorway to nightmare.
Speaker 2: Nightmare Come in.
Speaker 1: Welcome. I'm your host through the doorway to nightmare. Do you ever think of the undead? The ones that lie under the ground? The millions that wait patiently? Perhaps you think of the ghostly ones. The ones that walk among us, unseen and jealous of our lives.
Speaker 16: Don't you get it yet? We shouldn't have come in here.
Speaker 14: It's just an old house. There is nothing in here. It was either this or stay out in the storm.
Speaker 16: I don't mind the storm compared to this.
Speaker 14: Compared to what, Matthew? It's just an old house. Nothing more than that.
Speaker 1: Our mystery drama, Keep Out, was written especially for Doorway to Nightmare by Winslow Swan and edited by Crimson McKenzie. Our stars, Brenna Faith, Raven Adams, and Robert Jackson. It is sponsored in part by Swanage Press. I'll be back shortly with Act One. Meet Jerry Connors. Family man. Business man. Psychopathic killer. The Convincer by Winslow Swan. Now available on Amazon. Jerry Connors. He can convince you to do anything. Even die.
Speaker 1: I am quite sure that somewhere in your city there is a house that seems not to be quite right. The house that has been empty for years, that people avoid at all costs. Perhaps this house is right in your neighborhood. A house that even in the daytime appears ominous and foreboding.
Speaker 14: The storm seems to be getting worse.
Speaker 16: I know. I've never seen one pop up so quickly.
Speaker 14: Where are we, anyway?
Speaker 16: I was hoping that you would know, Erica.
Speaker 14: Matthew, are you kidding?
Speaker 16: I think I took the wrong exit off the highway. God, I don't recognize anything.
Speaker 14: Why don't we just turn around and head back to the highway?
Speaker 16: That's what I've been trying to do. If you haven't noticed, there are no other houses or driveways down this road. I haven't seen a place to turn around yet.
Speaker 14: The storm is getting worse.
Speaker 16: Yeah, well... We have another problem.
Speaker 14: What?
Speaker 16: We are almost out of gas.
Speaker 14: Please tell me you're joking. So now what, genius?
Speaker 16: Well, we could sit here. Or we could walk to that station I passed about.
Speaker 3: A mile ago.
Speaker 4: In this weather?
Speaker 14: Are you nuts?
Speaker 16: Maybe that house over there has a phone. I could call someone.
Speaker 14: Best idea you've had so far.
Speaker 16: Oh, now, isn't this just lovely? A private cemetery.
Speaker 14: You said that we should try this house.
Speaker 16: I didn't see the cemetery.
Speaker 14: At least the storm's passed.
Speaker 16: Ooh, they're coming to get you, Erica.
Speaker 14: I think we can do without that, don't you?
Speaker 16: You mean you don't think about the undead? The ones that we are probably walking on right now?
Speaker 4: Oh, ha ha.
Speaker 16: You should listen carefully. Perhaps you can hear them whispering on the wind.
Speaker 14: Let's just get to the house.
Speaker 16: Aren't you even scared?
Speaker 4: Yes, I am.
Speaker 14: I'm petrified that I'm going to catch a cold.
Speaker 11: But just listen.
Speaker 16: Don't you hear those ghostly creatures that are lurking....
Speaker 4: Cheese!
Speaker 16: It's only a cat. You should have seen yourself.
Speaker 14: I wasn't prepared for it. Stop laughing or I swear.
Speaker 11: Okay, okay.
Speaker 16: But you gotta admit, it made you jump.
Speaker 14: Yes, I admit it. Happy now?
Speaker 16: Wait a second.
Speaker 14: What is it now?
Speaker 16: Just wait. Erica, don't turn around.
Speaker 4: Don't do it.
Speaker 3: Don't.
Speaker 4: Are you serious?
Speaker 16: I'm telling you, don't turn around. I think I see something behind you.
Speaker 14: Matthew, will you stop trying?
Speaker 16: I'm not kidding. Don't turn around.
Speaker 11: It looks.
Speaker 16: Oh, God. It looks like something that's been dead for a long time.
Speaker 14: This is childish.
Speaker 16: I can't take my eyes off of it. I'm not sure what the hell it is, but just don't turn around.
Speaker 14: Matthew, please stop it.
Speaker 16: It's getting closer, Erika. I'm afraid to run. Just don't turn around.
Speaker 4: Please, Matt, just stop.
Speaker 11: You stupid idiot!
Speaker 16: It was just an owl.
Speaker 14: I should just leave you here. I'm going up to the house to see if they have a phone.
Speaker 1: Some people do enjoy being scared. Others like to give a good scare. But there are some places where it is not such a good idea. I'll be back shortly with Act 2.
Speaker 7: The only witness to her murder cannot speak. Until now.
Speaker 2: Click.
Speaker 7: A Tale of Revenge by Winslow Swan. Now available on Amazon. Revenge is a dish best served cold.
Speaker 1: Matthew and Erica have found themselves at the front door of a rather foreboding house. They are hoping that there will be a working phone inside and not something else.
Speaker 16: Storm is picking back up.
Speaker 14: Let's just stay here on the porch.
Speaker 16: Until the sun comes up? Are you nuts?
Speaker 14: I don't think anyone is at home.
Speaker 16: That's not a good sign.
Speaker 4: That's okay.
Speaker 14: I'll just stay out here and get wet.
Speaker 4: Come on.
Speaker 16: How bad could it be? At least it's dry inside.
Speaker 4: Right. Dry.
Speaker 17: Not a serial killer or maniac in sight.
Speaker 11: Oh, stop.
Speaker 16: Let's go in.
Speaker 2: Hello?
Speaker 9: Is there anyone here?
Speaker 4: No answer.
Speaker 14: Let's find another house.
Speaker 16: Well, this is the only house we saw. Let's just try to find a phone.
Speaker 14: Very funny, Matthew. Now open the door.
Speaker 16: I didn't close it. I can't get it open.
Speaker 11: Don't lie!
Speaker 14: Forget it. We can find another way out. Let's look for a phone.
Speaker 16: Hang on, I got my lighter. I think there are some candles over there. There we are.
Speaker 14: See?
Speaker 16: It's just an old house. Nothing more, nothing less.
Speaker 14: Look up there, over the fireplace.
Speaker 16: Now, that portrait is enough to scare you.
Speaker 14: I wonder who it is.
Speaker 16: Uh, Silas Green.
Speaker 4: And how do you know that?
Speaker 16: Oh, I know all about this place. Silas Green was a doctor who did a lot of unnecessary surgeries- He bought this place, and they say he experimented on people that he brought here. You know, no anesthesia. They say you can still hear the screams of his victims.
Speaker 14: You're making that up!
Speaker 16: Okay, maybe I am. But the old boy in that portrait, yeah, that really is Silas Green.
Speaker 14: Again, how do you know?
Speaker 16: I can read the nameplate below the portrait.
Speaker 14: Oh, I didn't see that.
Speaker 4: Ah!
Speaker 14: That thing nearly killed me!
Speaker 16: It's an old house. We have to be careful. Come on, let's, uh... Let's go this way.
Speaker 14: This doesn't look like a dining room to me.
Speaker 16: More like a doctor's exam room.
Speaker 14: You were only kidding about Silas Green, weren't you?
Speaker 16: No, I swear, I just made that up.
Speaker 14: Well, obviously this was some sort of doctor's house. What's that stain on the floor?
Speaker 16: That looks like... dried blood?
Speaker 14: Hey, there's an old book over on the table.
Speaker 16: Look at this. Well, I'll be.
Speaker 14: What is it?
Speaker 16: I guess I wasn't making it up. Old Silas really was a doctor. A surgeon, actually.
Speaker 14: Matt, look at the dates.
Speaker 16: I guess we don't have to worry about Silas. This is dated 1890. Oh my god.
Speaker 4: What is it?
Speaker 16: Um, I was only joking, but according to these entries, he really did do experiments on people. Look here. Removed the vocal cords. Screaming is annoying. preparing to remove the right lung, patient still stable.
Speaker 9: No!
Speaker 2: No!
Speaker 13: That's horrible!
Speaker 16: I'm not even going to read the later ones. He removed someone's brain while they were still alive.
Speaker 14: Let's just get out of here.
Speaker 16: Hey, Erica, wait for me.
Speaker 1: Erica?
Speaker 2: Erica?
Speaker 3: Where are you?
Speaker 1: Most towns have a story or legend associated with an old house, especially one that no one has lived.
Speaker 3: In for a long time. The sort of house.
Speaker 1: That everyone avoids going near. You come near shortly when I return with Act 3.
Speaker 7: It is in all of us.
Speaker 3: Waiting.
Speaker 8: Waiting.
Speaker 7: Watching. Growing. Evil Within by Winslow Swan. Now available on Amazon.
Speaker 1: Matthew finds himself alone in the mysterious house. Erica has disappeared somewhere within. She finds herself strapped to a table. Beside her, a collection of ancient surgical instruments.
Speaker 2: Matthew!
Speaker 4: Matthew, where are you?
Speaker 9: No need to scream, my dear.
Speaker 4: Who are you?
Speaker 11: I'm the doctor assigned to your case. I've recommended surgery, and I can assure you.
Speaker 9: It is going to be very, very painful.
Speaker 14: Scream all you want.
Speaker 4: No one can hear you.
Speaker 9: You should have paid attention to the sign.
Speaker 2: You maniac!
Speaker 9: What sign?
Speaker 3: I believe it is time to begin.
Speaker 13: I think that we will start with the scalpel.
Speaker 15: An incision in the breastplate, down to the midsection.
Speaker 9: I shall be removing your lower intestine.
Speaker 4: No, please, no!
Speaker 16: Get away from her.
Speaker 4: Get out of here.
Speaker 11: You're not sterile.
Speaker 4: Get me out of this.
Speaker 13: The candles.
Speaker 16: Let's get out of here. This whole place is going to go up.
Speaker 3: No.
Speaker 15: There is still the operating to perform.
Speaker 4: Stop. How do we get out of here?
Speaker 16: The door has to be this way.
Speaker 14: Matthew, the fire is getting closer.
Speaker 18: The operating must go on.
Speaker 9: Come back here.
Speaker 11: God, so is he.
Speaker 3: Come on.
Speaker 2: Come back here.
Speaker 16: I can't get it open. I'm going to try to break it down.
Speaker 9: Forget the door! The window!
Speaker 2: Now!
Speaker 3: Now, you must not leave.
Speaker 9: I am the doctor.
Speaker 18: Surgery is necessary.
Speaker 14: At least it stopped raining.
Speaker 4: Why did we have to come through the graveyard again?
Speaker 9: It was necessary.
Speaker 14: As long as we're out of that house, I don't care where we have to go to get back to the road. The thing is, it's burning down.
Speaker 4: Matt, look.
Speaker 14: The house is still there. What happened to the fire?
Speaker 16: I don't know. It's like the flames just disappeared.
Speaker 14: I wonder what he meant by not seeing the sign. I mean, what sign?
Speaker 9: Aren't you forgetting something?
Speaker 4: Matthew?
Speaker 14: Matthew? Why did you stop walking? Matthew, you're changing.
Speaker 9: I told you, the operation has been scheduled.
Speaker 2: Oh, God, no!
Speaker 9: No!
Speaker 14: Matthew, stop it!
Speaker 3: Stop it!
Speaker 15: And it will be very, very painful.
Speaker 9: Matthew, stop it!
Speaker 2: Stop it! No!
Speaker 7: No!
Speaker 3: Damn, no, no, no, not now, not... Come on, baby, come.
Speaker 4: On.
Speaker 3: Hi, honey. No, no, no, I'm okay. It's the car that is having problems. Yeah, if you can. Look, I'm stuck out here by the old Silas place. I know, I know. I don't care if a hurricane comes through.
Speaker 8: I can read.
Speaker 3: I can definitely read the keep out sign. And if it's one thing I know how to do, is to keep out of that place.
Speaker 1: As the song says, sign sign. Everywhere a sign. But do we really pay attention to all of the signs? You pay attention as I'll be back shortly.
Speaker 7: If you'd like to support us, visit our merchandise store. T-shirts, caps, mugs, and so much more. Visit doorwaytonightmare.com today.
Speaker 1: The next time that you see an old deserted house that is at the end of a dimly lit road what will you do are you the kind of person that would go inside explore and possibly ignore the warning signs I certainly hope not I do hope that you will join me again behind the doorway to nightmare. Our cast included Brenna Faith, Raven Adams, and Robert Jackson. The story was edited by Crimson McKenzie, and the entire production was under the direction of Winslow Swan. And now, a preview of our next tale.
Speaker 4: Naturally. You never think about me.
Speaker 3: Darling, I always think of you.
Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. Spend all your stupid time in this worthless garden. When, Stuart, when do you think of me? When you're talking to all these weeds?
Speaker 3: Please, Nora, not so loud. Negativity is very detrimental to the growth of my babies.
Speaker 4: What about my growth?
Speaker 3: What about me?
Speaker 1: Doorway to Nightmare is brought to you in part by Swanage Press. This is your host, inviting you to return with us through the doorway to nightmare for another adventure into the world of your terrifying imagination. Until next time, slumber peacefully.
Speaker 2: Epilogue.
Speaker 14: Shh.
Speaker 9: The butler did it.
Speaker 4: The butler didn't do it!
Speaker 1: Doorway to Nightmare is brought to you in part by Swanage Press. It lies in wait amidst your dreams where nothing is ever how it seems. It is a portal to a terrifying world beyond the doorway to nightmare. Nightmare.
Speaker 1: Come in. Welcome. I'm your host through the doorway to nightmare. The author Libba Bray once said that there is no greater power on this earth than story. The creation of words put together in a fashion that may elicit joy, happiness, sadness, or even horror. is something that many strive for, but few are able to accomplish.
Speaker 4: It's okay. It happens to the best of writers. What? You think we wake up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed with three or more stories already written? Before we can even consciously breathe?
Speaker 10: No!
Speaker 2: No, babe.
Speaker 4: The only person that does that is you.
Speaker 3: You're awake then, too?
Speaker 4: Only because I'm curious as to... Never mind, Swan. Dang it. Why you gotta do this to me?
Speaker 3: I just don't seem to be getting any ideas. I don't know what's wrong with me. You?
Speaker 4: The one who called me up at two-ish in the morning and said, Hey, guess what? I wrote three plays last night. And now says I don't have an idea?
Speaker 3: Rubbish! That's just it. I mean, what if I'm dried up? What if I can't write another word?
Speaker 4: That's a whole lot of... I mean, don't you dare! You know what? I think I know exactly what you need.
Speaker 1: Our mystery drama, Road Trip. was written especially for Doorway to Nightmare by Crimson McKenzie and Winslow Swan. Our stars include Crimson McKenzie, Winslow Swan, William Stafford, Isabella Woogie, and Prince Titan. I'll be back shortly with Act One.
Speaker 7: The only witness to her murder cannot speak. Until now.
Speaker 10: Click.
Speaker 7: A Tale of Revenge by Winslow Swan. Now available on Amazon. Revenge is a dish best served cold.
Speaker 2: Revenge is a.
Speaker 14: Dish best served cold.
Speaker 1: The art of telling a story can be quite easy for most people. For others, writing a story on paper is actually simpler than voicing it. However, there is no greater hell for a writer when they are faced with that terrifying affliction known as writer's block.
Speaker 4: Swan? I thought we weren't recording until tomorrow.
Speaker 3: Do you mind if I come in?
Speaker 4: Of course. Can I get you something to drink? I think I have some soda in the.
Speaker 3: You got anything stronger?
Speaker 4: Swan? Are you serious?
Speaker 1: Very.
Speaker 4: No, I know it's bad.
Speaker 3: A double shot of anything.
Speaker 1: Wow.
Speaker 4: This must be serious. Or is it a blue moon?
Speaker 3: I can't do it.
Speaker 4: Do what?
Speaker 3: It just won't come. I've been trying for almost two weeks now and nothing.
Speaker 4: Okay, okay, okay. Just slow down. Tell me. What the heck's going on?
Speaker 3: Look, when we started this whole thing, I was really happy. I couldn't believe that we actually did it. But now.
Speaker 4: Yeah, but I still don't know.
Speaker 3: I'm dried up. I haven't had one single solitary idea in almost two weeks.
Speaker 4: You're cute, kid. You're cute.
Speaker 3: No, this is very serious. I mean, what if this is it?
Speaker 4: Oh, this is one you actually have me worried about. I really thought that there was something deadly going on.
Speaker 3: Crimson, look, if it had not been for you, this whole audio play thing would never have gotten off the ground.
Speaker 1: Remember?
Speaker 4: Yeah, I remember.
Speaker 3: You told me, go home, write a play.
Speaker 4: Yes, and you did. And you brought me the script the very next day. The next day. And then, if that weren't enough, you just kept hammering them out.
Speaker 11: Well, not anymore.
Speaker 3: It's been too long. I feel like I'm dried up.
Speaker 4: You are not dried up. You just need.
Speaker 4: I think I have an idea.
Speaker 3: Anything is better than what I'm coming up with.
Speaker 4: You just need a change of scenery. Get away from everything and I think I know exactly where to go.
Speaker 4: How you feeling?
Speaker 3: A little better. Thank you.
Speaker 4: My pleasure. Everyone needs a change of scenery every once in a while.
Speaker 3: Any idea where we're going?
Speaker 2: Yes!
Speaker 13: Yes!
Speaker 4: No. No. But I think it's this way. We are going to the most haunted places we can find. I've got a map and a list of places. Besides, we're way ahead of the shows and we can afford to take a little break. We need it. You need it.
Speaker 3: Yeah, I suppose you're right. So, what's our first stop?
Speaker 4: Well, unless you want to walk, our first destination is a gas station. Then, perhaps we can get our grub on.
Speaker 3: If I haven't said it yet, thank you for this. Heck, thank you for everything.
Speaker 1: That you do.
Speaker 4: That's what friends are for, hon.
Speaker 3: I mean, between the acting, editing, and co-writing, and... And writing your own script. I just can't thank you enough.
Speaker 4: Ditto, ditto. And you are most welcome.
Speaker 3: Hey, did you see that?
Speaker 2: What?
Speaker 3: That sign. Something about the most haunted place in the world.
Speaker 2: Duh.
Speaker 4: Why do you think I told you to come this way? Just watch for the signs on the left. I've always wanted to come here. I'm so excited.
Speaker 3: So we're really going to do this?
Speaker 4: That, my dear Swans, Why, will you kidding me? Wow! This road goes on forever!
Speaker 3: There's a small shack up ahead. Maybe that's where you get tickets.
Speaker 11: For whatever this is.
Speaker 8: Turn back.
Speaker 1: Don't go in.
Speaker 8: Your very lives depend on it.
Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
Speaker 4: He's great at this.
Speaker 8: Sorry, folks. Part of the act.
Speaker 3: How much to get in?
Speaker 8: Well, we close at sunset. About an hour from now.
Speaker 4: I'm sure that'll give us plenty of time.
Speaker 8: Five dollars then. But listen, seriously. Make sure you're out of here before sunset.
Speaker 4: Okay. I'll play along. Why before sunset?
Speaker 8: There's evil here. It's always been here.
Speaker 3: And watch out for Josie.
Speaker 4: Maybe this isn't such a good idea.
Speaker 8: It's just part of the act. You folks enjoy yourselves. Just remember what I said about being out before sunset. It's important that you do that.
Speaker 1: A failed warning would tell me that perhaps moving onward may not be the wisest course of action. But really, we're only talking about a roadside attraction that must have been created for tourists. Aren't we? I'll be back with Act 2.
Speaker 4: Mystery. Horror. Thriller.
Speaker 3: Suspense.
Speaker 4: Novels and short story collections from Winslow Swann, now available from Amazon.
Speaker 1: The Small Roadside Carnival. The out-of-the-way gas station with diner attached. The seemingly empty rest stop. All of these can be foreboding, creepy places. But to be warned about one should be taken seriously.
Speaker 4: So do we just keep driving or... What is this?
Speaker 3: Maybe just around this bend.
Speaker 4: What the hell is that?
Speaker 15: Dude.
Speaker 3: Just a monster of some kind. It was no big deal.
Speaker 4: That is the creepiest thing that I've ever seen.
Speaker 3: Hey, look up ahead. That must be the haunted house.
Speaker 4: Okay, take it back. That is the creepiest thing that I've ever seen.
Speaker 3: Well, what do you want to do first? They have some rides over there.
Speaker 4: Oh, look. They have some tables set up. Let's go take a look. I'll park the car here. Come on, look at this.
Speaker 2: What is it?
Speaker 3: Well, look. Yeah, looks like jewelry to me.
Speaker 4: Oh, okay, yes, but now that I'm looking, I don't think it's exactly sanitary. Earrings, nose rings, tongue studs, but none of them are packaged.
Speaker 2: Ew.
Speaker 3: That's weird. There's no prices on anything either.
Speaker 4: Let's just walk the path and see where it takes us.
Speaker 3: Sounds good to me. Hey, it's almost sunset. You heard what the man said.
Speaker 4: You don't really think he was serious, do you?
Speaker 1: I don't know.
Speaker 3: I'm just getting a feeling.
Speaker 4: Oh, what's that building over there?
Speaker 1: Where?
Speaker 3: Oh, you mean the one with the security tape across the doors and windows?
Speaker 4: Yes, that one.
Speaker 3: Apparently something they don't want people to go into.
Speaker 4: But look, don't you see it?
Speaker 3: Well, now what do you see?
Speaker 4: It's a silver holographic backpack. It's so beautiful. I've got to have it.
Speaker 3: We are not stealing a backpack.
Speaker 4: I'm not going to steal it. I'll pay for it, obviously.
Speaker 3: Yeah, well, first you have to get it.
Speaker 7: Exactly.
Speaker 4: Just be my lookout, okay?
Speaker 3: Fine, but be careful.
Speaker 4: I can almost reach it.
Speaker 2: Damn.
Speaker 4: I'm going to have to go under the tape. Let me know if anyone comes.
Speaker 3: Just hurry up. Okay, I got it.
Speaker 19: Ow!
Speaker 3: Crimson, what is it?
Speaker 7: Hi.
Speaker 19: You came to play with me.
Speaker 4: What the? She's trying to take it away. She won't let it go. Swan, help me.
Speaker 10: Who?
Speaker 3: What are you talking about?
Speaker 4: It hurts. She's grabbing my wrist.
Speaker 3: Just let it go. We're not supposed to be in here anyway.
Speaker 14: Swan.
Speaker 4: Swat!
Speaker 11: Crimson!
Speaker 8: Where are you? Where did you go?
Speaker 19: I'm so happy you came to play with me.
Speaker 3: Excuse me, sir.
Speaker 11: You!
Speaker 14: You!
Speaker 8: What are you doing here? My friend.
Speaker 3: She's gone.
Speaker 8: Well, she's smart. You should be going, too. No, you don't understand.
Speaker 3: I mean, she's just gone. Like, vanished. Where'd this happen at? Well, honestly, to the right of the kiosk. Look, I know it was roped off. She saw a backpack. She was going to pay for it, and now she's gone. Come on.
Speaker 8: We don't have much time.
Speaker 3: What do you mean?
Speaker 8: It's Josephine. I just hope we get to your friend in time.
Speaker 4: Where am I? Swan!
Speaker 19: Hello, pretty lady.
Speaker 4: Um, hi?
Speaker 19: What's your name?
Speaker 4: I'm Crimson.
Speaker 15: You?
Speaker 19: My name is Josie.
Speaker 4: That's a very pretty name.
Speaker 19: Will you play a game with me?
Speaker 4: Why is it so dark in here? Where are your parents, honey?
Speaker 19: Play a game with me! I'll play a game with you, Josie.
Speaker 4: No, Sam.
Speaker 14: I want her to play a game with me.
Speaker 2: Okay.
Speaker 4: What do you want to play?
Speaker 19: Hide and seek? I'll hide, and you try to find me.
Speaker 14: I love that game. I want to hide next.
Speaker 4: No, Sam.
Speaker 19: I'm playing with Crimson. You never play with me.
Speaker 4: I don't think that's a very good game to play here. You might get lost. It's so dark.
Speaker 19: I won't get lost. You might get lost.
Speaker 4: That's probably true. Why don't we play... Hey, that backpack!
Speaker 17: Do you like it? I got it yesterday. Now let's play hide and seek. You find me.
Speaker 4: Josie!
Speaker 2: Wait!
Speaker 4: Where did she go? Josie! Where are you, hon?
Speaker 9: Come and find me.
Speaker 4: Oh, no. This isn't creepy at all.
Speaker 13: How the hell do I get out of here?
Speaker 8: See anything?
Speaker 3: No, nothing yet. What's going on?
Speaker 8: I warned you about being out here after sunset. Come on.
Speaker 3: We've looked everywhere.
Speaker 8: One more place. I just hope that this works.
Speaker 1: Nietzsche once said, when you look long into an abyss... The Abyss looks into you. Has Crimson looked too long into an unknown world? You look into Act 3. when I return shortly. Meet Jerry Connors. Family man. Business man. Psychopathic killer. The Convincer by Winslow Swan. Now available on Amazon. Jerry Connors. He can convince you to do anything.
Speaker 2: Even die.
Speaker 1: Crimson and Swan have found a small roadside carnival that features the most haunted house in America. And now, Crimson has disappeared.
Speaker 4: What is going on? Where's Swan? Why do things look so different? There's the kiosk, but It's on the opposite side. Why is everything flipped upside down and backwards? Why does everything look different?
Speaker 14: You didn't look for me.
Speaker 4: Oh, Josie, I was looking for you. I told you that you might get lost.
Speaker 19: I never get lost.
Speaker 14: You got lost.
Speaker 4: What do you mean?
Speaker 19: Play a game.
Speaker 4: We already did that. I need to find my friend and... Play a game with me. I really can't, Josie. I need to get back on the road.
Speaker 19: You have to play a game.
Speaker 17: You have to play a game for all time to get back to your time.
Speaker 8: Back here. In the stable. Where are we going? Not we. Just you. Go through and find your friend. I'll wait here and lead you back. Find her quick. You don't have much time.
Speaker 4: Now look, I don't have time to.
Speaker 17: You only have time.
Speaker 2: All time.
Speaker 19: You have to stay and play.
Speaker 3: Crimson!
Speaker 4: Swan?
Speaker 3: Crimson, come on!
Speaker 8: We've got to go!
Speaker 2: No!
Speaker 11: She can't leave!
Speaker 3: Come on, Crimson. I'll buy the stable. No!
Speaker 19: She has to stay! She has no choice now.
Speaker 4: Let them go, Joseph!
Speaker 9: What?
Speaker 3: What?
Speaker 4: What is happening?
Speaker 3: I don't know. Just run!
Speaker 8: This way!
Speaker 3: Hurry!
Speaker 14: No!
Speaker 4: Would someone please tell me what's going on?
Speaker 8: Here, take a look at this.
Speaker 4: Swan, look at this. Josephine Darren. That must be the little girl I saw.
Speaker 8: Yes, ma'am. That was Josie.
Speaker 4: This isn't even writing. Only a bunch of weird symbols.
Speaker 8: Wait, wait. What's that say?
Speaker 4: It's the only thing that is written. It says, the carnival came to town. What does that mean?
Speaker 8: All I can tell you is what my grandfather told me. This land is cursed. I don't really know who Josephine Darren was, but I do know that she lures people to wherever or whenever she is. Quite a few people have disappeared from here.
Speaker 3: You almost became one of them. Let's get out of here.
Speaker 8: Let me go open the gate for you.
Speaker 3: Look over there oh come on crimson let's go it's.
Speaker 4: That backpack i have to have it.
Speaker 3: Crimson no don't i.
Speaker 4: Want it i need it.
Speaker 19: Won't you play a game with me.
Speaker 1: It has been said that time heals all wounds. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue, and the pain lessens. But it is never gone. So said Rose Kennedy. Consider that some wounds transcend time and space. I'll be back shortly.

Speaker 4: Oh, Bobby, I miss you so much. I don't know how I'm going to go on.
Speaker 1: I'm here, Marge.
Speaker 4: Bobby? Is that really you?
Speaker 9: Yes, my love. I'm really here.
Speaker 4: What am I gonna do without you? I'm so lost.
Speaker 9: I understand.
Speaker 4: Tell me. Are you happy where you are?
Speaker 9: I really wish that you had not asked me that.

Speaker 8: There is some. Thing.
Speaker 5: And it's waiting. Waiting for another story. No one is afraid of monsters anymore, and other stories to read to the Thing under the bed by Winslow Swan. Eight terrifying tales for you to enjoy and to read to the thing under your bed. Get it before the thing gets you.
Speaker 1: I have never understood the fear of ghosts. I have always found it a rather fascinating subject. After all, what are ghosts and what do they do? They haunt, right? And what does haunting mean?
Speaker 8: To visit?
Speaker 1: To become familiar with a place to hang around. So ghosts merely hang around.
Speaker 3: I'm so very sorry, Marge.
Speaker 4: Thank you, Tom. I don't know how I could have gotten through this without you.
Speaker 3: If there's anything that you need, just let me know.
Speaker 4: I will. Thank you again.
Speaker 3: I'll call you tomorrow. Try and get some rest.
Speaker 4: Hello?
Speaker 2: Marge?
Speaker 13: Are you doing okay?
Speaker 4: Oh, Angie. I just feel so damn lost. Oh, honey, I know.
Speaker 13: It was all so terrible. The crash, the inquest, and they never found the body?
Speaker 14: No!
Speaker 4: They said the fire was so intense that there wouldn't have been anything left, but... I just can't believe that.
Speaker 13: Bobby was a good man. As long as you remember him, he isn't really gone.
Speaker 4: I just wish that he were here now.
Speaker 13: Do you need anything?
Speaker 4: No, not at the moment. Tom Akron just left.
Speaker 14: Who?
Speaker 4: Tom Akron, Bobby's attorney. Well, he's more of a friend than a lawyer.
Speaker 13: I take it he's handling the estate.
Speaker 4: Yes, Bobby was very thorough.
Speaker 13: Well, that's good.
Speaker 4: Angie, I need to let you go. I just need to be alone right now.
Speaker 13: I understand, honey. If you need me, don't hesitate to call.
Speaker 4: I will. And thank you. Why, Bobby? It's not fair! I need you so badly!
Speaker 9: I'm here, Marge.
Speaker 4: Bobby?
Speaker 9: It's really me, darling.
Speaker 4: Oh, Bobby, what am I gonna do? I don't think I can actually live without you.
Speaker 9: I know, my love. That's why I'm here.
Speaker 4: What do you mean?
Speaker 9: I never expected to end up like this. We had all those plans. All of our dreams.
Speaker 4: I know. Bobby, are you happy?
Speaker 1: No, I'm not.
Speaker 9: I need you, Marge. Just as much as you need me.
Speaker 4: But what can I do?
Speaker 9: There may be one way for us to be together.
Speaker 4: If there is any way that we could, I'll do anything.
Speaker 9: I was so hoping you would say that.
Speaker 3: Marge, I know that it's been rough, but.
Speaker 4: Tom, he was here! Right in this room.
Speaker 3: It's not that I don't believe you.
Speaker 4: Believe what you want. I know what I saw and heard.
Speaker 3: Marge, I know that you miss him. The circumstances about his death are almost unbelievable. But Bobby is dead. And you have to accept that.
Speaker 4: Tom, I know that he's dead. But the fact remains that he was here. Tonight.
Speaker 3: Oh, okay, okay. Did he say why he came back? Yes.
Speaker 4: Which is why I called you. Oh, Tom. He is so lonely over there. He's as lost as I am.
Speaker 3: Marge, what did he say?
Speaker 4: As our lawyer, I want you to do something for me.
Speaker 3: Well, that depends on what it is.
Speaker 4: I want you to give all of my money away. Specifically, a new charity. I have their information.
Speaker 3: Are you serious?
Speaker 4: Very. You see, I won't be needing any money. Not where I'm going.
Speaker 1: But where is she going? A vacation? A new home? Or is there something far more sinister going on? Perhaps we shall find out when I return with Act Two.
Speaker 7: The only witness to her murder cannot speak. Until now.
Speaker 4: Click.
Speaker 7: A Tale of Revenge by Winslow Swan. Now available on Amazon. Revenge is a dish best served cold.
Speaker 1: Compromise it is something that we all do in any relationship we compromise at work to get the job done we compromise in the business world so that contracts can get signed and in marriage we compromise to keep the relationship.
Speaker 3: I guess you were wondering why I called you down to my office.
Speaker 13: It is unusual. I don't think that we've formerly met. I only saw you at the memorial service for Bobby.
Speaker 3: Did you know Bobby well?
Speaker 13: No, only through Marge. I was supposed to be her bridesmaid at their wedding last year, but I was busy and couldn't make it.
Speaker 3: It was a rather unusual romance, wouldn't you say?
Speaker 13: How so?
Speaker 1: Well.
Speaker 3: They only had known each other a couple of weeks before they got married.
Speaker 13: I believe love has no time limit. Who's to say how long a courtship should last?
Speaker 3: Still, it just seemed fast.
Speaker 13: Why bring it up now?
Speaker 3: Angie, how long have you known Marge?
Speaker 13: Ever since college. Why do you ask?
Speaker 3: Because right after the service, later that evening, she called me and had what I would consider... A rather strange request.
Speaker 13: What was the request?
Speaker 3: She wanted me to donate all of her money to charity.
Speaker 13: So what's wrong with that?
Speaker 1: No, no, you don't understand.
Speaker 3: She doesn't want any money to even live on.
Speaker 13: I'm sure that she knows what she's doing.
Speaker 3: Yes, well, I'm beginning to wonder.
Speaker 13: So why did you need me here?
Speaker 3: Because after I did some research, I found out that the Foundation Marge wants to bestow her wealth you are the founder of. Me?
Speaker 4: Are you serious?
Speaker 3: Before I make any sort of changes to a client's will, especially if there is a large amount of money involved, I thoroughly investigate. Tell me, what exactly does the Morpheus Foundation do?
Speaker 13: We're a society of individuals who want to help with the betterment of the human race. We donate our funds almost everywhere, from science research to helping war-torn countries.
Speaker 3: It looks good on paper, anyway.
Speaker 13: I resent that. We do great work.
Speaker 3: Like I said, it looks good on paper.
Speaker 13: I think that I'll be leaving now. I don't have to sit here and be insulted.
Speaker 10: No.
Speaker 3: And you may have to answer some more questions in the very near future.
Speaker 9: Bobby?
Speaker 4: Are you here?
Speaker 9: Yes, my love. I'm here. Did you talk to Tom?
Speaker 4: Yes, I did. He has all of the information that you gave me.
Speaker 9: Good. Then everything is set. We will be together forever.
Speaker 1: Um.
Speaker 4: How should I, you know... We can.
Speaker 9: Talk about that tomorrow night. Right now. I have to go.
Speaker 4: Bobby, please. Do you really have to go?
Speaker 1: Yes.
Speaker 9: I'm sorry. I will come back tomorrow night.
Speaker 4: I just want to be with you so badly.
Speaker 9: And you will be, darling. Very, very soon.
Speaker 13: I hope this is over soon.
Speaker 11: Don't worry.
Speaker 1: It will be.
Speaker 4: Bobby!
Speaker 13: You scared the hell out of me. I thought you said it was dangerous to come here.
Speaker 11: Have you seen Tom?
Speaker 13: Yes, and I'm worried now.
Speaker 11: There's nothing to worry about. I told you, I have this all planned out. By the time Tom figures it out, we shall be living abroad, making 20% interest.
Speaker 13: No, I think Tom suspects something.
Speaker 11: Don't worry. It's going to work out perfectly.
Speaker 3: Oh, sure.
Speaker 13: Isn't that what every criminal thinks?
Speaker 11: Just one more night. One more night for my ghost to appear to Marge. She's close. Very close.
Speaker 13: How do you think she'll do it?
Speaker 11: Pills, more than likely. She was always taking pills, and she has enough medicine to open her own drugstore.
Speaker 13: What if someone finds out what we're doing?
Speaker 11: Who's going to find out? Tom, believe me. He was never the sharpest tool in the shed.
Speaker 13: Such a cliche, and very dangerous. Those are usually the people that you have to watch out for.
Speaker 11: One more night. I will push her over the edge tomorrow night. In the meantime, why don't you get out of those itchy clothes?
Speaker 13: Is that all you think about?
Speaker 11: No, but I am tonight. Ha ha ha ha. Either that, or we have to wait a couple of weeks. Besides, I need to set up the projectors while Marge is away from the apartment.
Speaker 1: Oh?
Speaker 13: I thought she wasn't leaving the apartment anymore.
Speaker 11: Later tonight, she wants one final meal at our restaurant. If she only knew how much I hated that place.
Speaker 13: Wow, how sweet of you.
Speaker 11: Sure. Now get over here. Just have to place the projector in the right spot and.
Speaker 3: I thought I might find you here.
Speaker 11: Tom, what are you doing here?
Speaker 3: The question is, what are you doing here? A lie.
Speaker 11: Look, I can explain.
Speaker 3: Maybe you can, Bobby. Maybe you can. But you are going to be explaining it to the police.
Speaker 11: I'm afraid I can't let that happen. I've planned this too perfectly. How did you find out?
Speaker 3: Well, first there was your appearance. Then Marge wanting to give all of her money away. The clincher was when I found out that you and Angie had known each other in college.
Speaker 11: Guess I should have used another attorney.
Speaker 3: I'm calling the police, Bobby.
Speaker 1: No, Tom.
Speaker 11: I don't think so. You don't think I've known you have been in love with Marge?
Speaker 3: At least I can take care of her. After they convict you for fraud and murder.
Speaker 11: Then I guess one more murder won't matter, will it?
Speaker 3: What do you mean?
Speaker 11: This. Problem solved.
Speaker 1: When planning a crime... The criminal tries to cover all of the bases, making sure that absolutely nothing can go wrong. In the annals of crime, something always goes wrong. You don't go wrong and return with me for Act 3 shortly.
Speaker 3: It is in all of us.
Speaker 4: Waiting.
Speaker 7: Watching.
Speaker 4: Growing.
Speaker 7: Evil Within. By Winslow Swan. Now available on Amazon.
Speaker 1: Bobby is very much alive. And has a plan to murder his... Well... Do we say wife or widow? How would you characterize her now?
Speaker 13: How long do you think it'll take?
Speaker 11: Not long at all.
Speaker 13: I'm still worried about Tom.
Speaker 11: Tom will no longer be a problem. I've taken care of everything.
Speaker 13: And after tonight, we will be together forever.
Speaker 11: Well, about that... Bobby, what are you doing? Forever is such a long time, Angie.
Speaker 2: No!
Speaker 4: Bobby, put that gun down!
Speaker 11: You played your part very well.
Speaker 9: I no longer need you.
Speaker 13: But you said that you loved me.
Speaker 11: Of course I did. I told Marge the same thing. After tonight, I'll find someone else to love.
Speaker 2: Bobby, no!
Speaker 16: Bobby?
Speaker 4: Are you here, Bobby?
Speaker 9: I'm here, my love. Have you taken care of everything?
Speaker 4: Everything. I'm ready to be with you forever.
Speaker 9: And we will be. Have you decided how you will kill yourself?
Speaker 4: That has also been taken care of.
Speaker 3: Bobby.
Speaker 2: What?
Speaker 11: Who is there?
Speaker 3: It's me, Bobby.
Speaker 10: Bobby?
Speaker 3: Your old pal, Tom. No, you can't be.
Speaker 11: I killed you. This is some sort of trick.
Speaker 3: Like the trick you pulled on Marge? Make her think you were dead. Have her kill herself. Then miraculously you come back and claim her money?
Speaker 2: No.
Speaker 4: Is this true, Bobby?
Speaker 11: Don't listen to him, Marge. He's dead.
Speaker 4: But aren't you dead?
Speaker 11: Marge, listen to me.
Speaker 3: No, Tom. The game is over.
Speaker 18: And you have lost.
Speaker 1: No.
Speaker 11: Stay back. The game is over.
Speaker 3: And now you must pay the price.
Speaker 4: Tom, are you still here?
Speaker 3: Yes, Marge. I'm still here. I will always be with you.
Speaker 4: I thought I would be with Bobby, but he never really loved me, did he?
Speaker 3: I'm afraid not. But I do. And now, unfortunately, I'm dead.
Speaker 4: But Tom, so am I.
Speaker 2: You mean.
Speaker 3: I took.
Speaker 4: The overdose an hour ago. I've been dead for a while.
Speaker 1: See?
Speaker 4: My body got dead.
Speaker 2: Oh.
Speaker 9: My darling Marge.
Speaker 4: It's okay, Tom. We will be together forever.
Speaker 1: The misty figures of Tom and Marge embrace each other before dissolving into the ethereal world of spirits. I'll be back shortly. Meet Jerry Connors. Family man. Business man. Psychopathic killer. The Convincer by Winslow Swan. Now available on Amazon. Jerry Connors, he can convince you to do anything, even die. George Eliot once wrote, Our dead are never dead to us until we have forgotten them. Speaker 1: Our cast included Mick Davis, Crimson McKenzie, Annie Mick, and Winslow Swan. The story was edited by Crimson McKenzie and the entire production was under the direction of Winslow Swan. And now, a preview of our next tale.
Speaker 3: No, I don't expect you to believe my story. I would be insane to expect that. Yet I still have my sanity. While there is still time. I feel that I need you to understand what has happened to me. It was just a series of household events that had tortured, had destroyed me, had put me in this position. Perhaps someone less excitable, more logical than I could explain them for.
Speaker 1: A hundred years.
Speaker 3: I've not been able to I can only tell you the facts and that I have to do now for tomorrow justice will be served and I will be put to.
Speaker 1: Death Doorway to Nightmare has brought you in part by Swanage Press. This is your host, inviting you to return with us through the doorway to nightmare for another adventure into the world of your terrifying imagination. Until next time, slumber peacefully.
Speaker 2: Epilogue.
Speaker 7: That butler did it.
Speaker 1: Doorway to Nightmare is brought to you in part by Swanage Press. It lies in wait amidst your dreams, where nothing is ever how it seems. It is a portal to a terrifying world beyond the doorway. Nightmare. Come in.
Speaker 2: Welcome.
Speaker 1: I'm your host through the doorway to nightmare. I'm gone now, but I'm still very near. Death cannot separate us. Each time you feel a gentle breeze, it is my hand caressing your face, wrote the poet Mary M. Green. The dark shadow of death has touched all of us at some point. It is how we handle that darkness that makes us who we are.
Speaker 11: She was my life, my one shining star. We were inseparable.
Speaker 4: Mr. Ravenscroft, I'm here to bring closure to your grief. Your wife has been gone for 20 years, and I understand that you need to move on.
Speaker 11: No, Miss Crowley. You do not understand. You were here to bring Amber back.
Speaker 4: Of course. Her spirit. She is restless and needs to know that you are going to be okay.
Speaker 11: Not her spirit. Miss Crowley.
Speaker 1: Amber.
Speaker 11: Soul.
Speaker 1: And body. Our mystery drama, Amber's Meat Suit, was written especially for Doorway to Nightmare by Winslow Swan and edited by Crimson McKenzie. Our stars include Nick Davis, Crimson McKenzie, and Jonathan Rosignol. I'll be back shortly with Act One.
Speaker 4: Mystery.
Speaker 7: Horror.
Speaker 4: Thriller. Suspense. Novels and short story collections from Winslow Swann, now available from Amazon.
Speaker 1: They say that there are only two guarantees in life, death and taxes. And while there are those who manage to avoid the latter, no one has ever avoided that dark angel.
Speaker 4: Mr. Ravenscroft?
Speaker 11: You must be Leah Crawley.
Speaker 4: Yes, you called for my services.
Speaker 11: Please, come in.
Speaker 4: Thank you. You have quite an impressive home, Mr. Ravenscroft.
Speaker 11: Please, call me Ken. Yes, most impressive, imposing, and empty.
Speaker 4: I am so sorry for your loss.
Speaker 11: Thank you, Miss Crawley. Amber was my life. She was everything that I ever needed.
Speaker 4: How long has it been since her passing?
Speaker 11: This Friday, it will have been exactly 20 years.
Speaker 4: Twenty years? You have been grieving all this time? You poor man.
Speaker 11: No, Miss Crawley. Not grieving. I've been preparing.
Speaker 4: I don't understand, Mr.
Speaker 8: Ravens.
Speaker 4: I mean, Ken. Preparing for what?
Speaker 11: For Amber's return, of course.
Speaker 4: Her return? Oh, yes, Amber. Her spirit coming to you from beyond.
Speaker 11: No, Miss Crowley. I've been preparing for the last 20 years for the return of my wife, Amber.
Speaker 4: But that is not what happens, Ken.
Speaker 11: This Friday night at 1113, the very minute that she passed away, she will return.
Speaker 14: Where are we going?
Speaker 11: To her final resting place. Temporarily.
Speaker 4: Oh my god. You have buried her on the property?
Speaker 11: Of course not. Her beauty could never be buried in the cold, ugly ground. I had this mausoleum built special for Amber. Her body has been perfectly preserved.
Speaker 4: So, what would you like for me to do?
Speaker 11: Miss Crawley, I've checked into your work. You are the most honest, sincere medium that I have ever come across.
Speaker 4: How many spiritualists have you consulted?
Speaker 11: Several, Miss Crawley. I am sure that you will find the majority of spiritualists, as you call them, are nothing more than magicians with a fancy bag of tricks. You, on the other hand, are not.
Speaker 4: I like to think of myself as a conduit to the spirit world.
Speaker 11: Now, don't be modest. I've read the accounts of your extraordinary abilities.
Speaker 4: So, why did you seek me out?
Speaker 11: Because, Miss Crawley, you are real. You do not seek publicity. You work out of your home. You do not advertise. People come to you as I'm coming to you now.
Speaker 4: I appreciate that. Why don't we go back into the house and perhaps... Just perhaps I will be able to communicate with your wife.
Speaker 11: Yes, that is exactly what I want you to do.
Speaker 4: Spirits, we call upon you to reach out to us. Gather your forces together. We are here to contact Amber Ravenscroft. Seek her. Bring her to us. Why have you disturbed my slumber? We are seeking the spirit of Amber Ravenscroft. Her husband needs desperately to speak with her. The veil cannot be broken.
Speaker 7: She is at peace and.
Speaker 4: Wishes him a good life. My time is short, and I must leave. We thank you for the message of hope and peace. Love and light be with you.
Speaker 11: Very impressive, Miss Crowley. How much was that brief encounter?
Speaker 4: I never ask for money, Mr. Ravenscroft. If you feel the need to donate.
Speaker 2: I will.
Speaker 3: Of course.
Speaker 11: Will this be enough for your time?
Speaker 3: Oh, Mr.
Speaker 4: Ravenscroft, this is more than enough. Thank you.
Speaker 11: So you will be here Friday night?
Speaker 4: Well, I'm not sure.
Speaker 11: It will be well worth your time.
Speaker 4: Please, Ken, I'd rather not discuss any.
Speaker 11: Half my fortune.
Speaker 4: I beg your pardon?
Speaker 11: Half of everything that I have, if you will just come back Friday night and bring Amber to me.
Speaker 1: Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory that no one can steal. And while they say that love can conquer all, it has yet to conquer the cold grave. I'll return shortly with Act Two.
Speaker 7: If you'd like to support us, visit our merchandise store, T-shirts, caps, mugs, and so much more. Visit doorwaytonightmare.com today.
Speaker 1: There have been many people who claim to be in touch with the spirit world. Some of them famous, others working.
Speaker 3: Out of small homes or apartments.
Speaker 1: It is a subject that many have an opinion about, but very few have had an actual encounter with.
Speaker 18: So, how did it go? Another one of your $ 50 guppies?
Speaker 4: No way, George. This is a big one. A great big fat whale.
Speaker 11: Really?
Speaker 18: So how much is this whale going to spout out?
Speaker 4: You wouldn't believe me if I told you.
Speaker 18: So what happened?
Speaker 4: Oh, you know, the usual. I went into my trance and found out through my spirit guide that Mr. Ravenscroft is wanting to get in touch with his wife from the great beyond. It's been 20 years since she died, and now he's been having trouble sleeping thinking about her.
Speaker 1: Aha.
Speaker 18: So all that information I got from the local pharmacist paid off.
Speaker 4: What information was that?
Speaker 18: You know damn well what information. How Ravencroft was trying to get sleeping pills without a prescription.
Speaker 4: That would have been very, very useful to me. Why didn't you tell me that?
Speaker 18: I did tell you that.
Speaker 4: No, you always think that you told me things. I have to go through heaven and hell with my spirit guide to find things out.
Speaker 18: Spirit guide my ass. It's me. It's always me.
Speaker 4: Regardless, Mr. Ravenscroft has convinced himself that I will be able to bring his poor, departed wife back this Friday. And he is willing to pay handsomely.
Speaker 1: Well, come on. How much?
Speaker 4: Half of his entire estate.
Speaker 2: Half?
Speaker 18: Of everything?
Speaker 4: That's right.
Speaker 1: Dollars?
Speaker 4: Yes, George. Good old-fashioned cash.
Speaker 18: Now, wait a minute. Did you say this Friday?
Speaker 4: Yes, this Friday. Is that going to be a problem?
Speaker 18: Two days to prepare. I suppose I could move the projectors into the front room and.
Speaker 4: Oh, no, George. This time it won't be at my place. He wants the seance to be at his home.
Speaker 18: For Christ's sake, his place? There's no way I can have everything wired for sound and picture at his place. Not in two days.
Speaker 4: For half an estate worth millions? I'm sure that your skills are up for the challenge.
Speaker 11: Leah, to what do I owe the honor of your visit?
Speaker 4: I wanted to come by to prepare for tomorrow night.
Speaker 11: By all means, please, come in.
Speaker 4: You see, Ken, the area in which I am... To contact the other world must be cleansed of all negative energy. It does take some time to make sure the room is clear.
Speaker 11: I understand. Well, here's the living room. Will this be sufficient for your needs?
Speaker 4: This is perfect. Now, I've brought some white sage and a few other incense. You do not object to me burning these, do you?
Speaker 11: That is fine. Do you need anything else from me?
Speaker 4: Oh, no. Tomorrow night, I will cleanse you as well as myself from any negative energy. That way it will be easier to contact the spirit world.
Speaker 11: And I shall leave you to it. Unfortunately, I have to make a few preparations of my own, which means a trip to the city. Will you be all right on your own?
Speaker 4: Oh, yes. This does require a bit of time and patience.
Speaker 11: My trip should not take more than a couple of hours. Please, just lock the door on your way out. And thank you again.
Speaker 2: Hey.
Speaker 3: Is he gone?
Speaker 4: Yes, George. He's gone. I can only assume by your presence that you were able to break in through the kitchen door. Yeah.
Speaker 18: Piece of cake, babe.
Speaker 2: Now.
Speaker 18: Show me, where will you be sitting?
Speaker 4: I believe on the sofa is the most advantageous place.
Speaker 18: Perfect. I think I can set the projector right on the mantle just above the fireplace there.
Speaker 4: And the speakers?
Speaker 18: I think one right by the chair where he's gonna sit should do it.
Speaker 4: Now don't screw this up. We are talking about retirement money.
Speaker 18: This is buy an island type of money.
Speaker 11: What was that?
Speaker 18: Must be a window open somewhere.
Speaker 4: Now don't overdo this. We don't need fans blowing spiritual winds on this one.
Speaker 18: Just the projector and the speakers. I don't dare put much more up than that. Remember, we gotta get this stuff out of here before he finds them.
Speaker 4: By then, we shall be far, far away.
Speaker 3: Hey, did you hear that?
Speaker 11: You.
Speaker 4: You didn't leave a tape playing somewhere, did you?
Speaker 1: There has never been any scientific evidence that someone can contact a spirit from the other side, but there have been many who claim that they can do it. I'll be back with Act 3 shortly.
Speaker 7: The only witness to her murder cannot speak.
Speaker 4: Until now.
Speaker 8: Click.
Speaker 7: A Tale of Revenge by Winslow Swan. Now available on Amazon. Revenge is a dish best served cold.
Speaker 1: When the escape artist Harry Houdini passed away, he made a promise to his wife. If he could find a way, he would return to her. Every Halloween night for over 60 years, a seance was held. Houdini never appeared. Out of all of the shackles and chains that he had escaped from, death was the one that he could not master.
Speaker 4: Mr. Ravenscroft? Ken, clear your mind. Let go of all the cares in the world. Concentrate on your wife, Amber. Think of her face, her voice, her gestures. Put all of your thoughts directly into her.
Speaker 1: Yes, Amber. I'm here.
Speaker 11: I'm waiting for you.
Speaker 4: We are gathered in this magic circle. to contact the spirit of Amber Ravenscroft. Yes, the spirits are converging. We seek the one who was called in life, Amber Ravenscroft. Come forth. Yes, come forth and bring peace to Kenneth Ravenscroft. Yes, Amber. Come into our circle.
Speaker 11: Exactly what are you doing, Miss Crowley?
Speaker 4: Please, Ken. Do not disturb the circle. Amber is close.
Speaker 11: And I thought you were genuine.
Speaker 2: Mr.
Speaker 4: Ravenscroft, what are you doing?
Speaker 11: Where is it? I know it's here.
Speaker 1: Aha!
Speaker 11: How do you explain this?
Speaker 4: Please, Mr. Ravenscroft.
Speaker 11: A small speaker.
Speaker 1: Really?
Speaker 11: Was that the best you could do? And I see over here, up on the mantle, a projector. Is this how I was supposed to see my Amber?
Speaker 4: I don't know what you are talking about. I do know that you have broken the circle and the spirits.
Speaker 11: You can come out now. The game is over.
Speaker 4: Who are you talking about?
Speaker 11: Oh, please, Miss Crawley. You have a partner. Come on out. The con is over.
Speaker 4: Look, a spirit comes to guide us. What message from Amber have you brought us?
Speaker 18: Knock it off, Leah.
Speaker 4: He knows.
Speaker 3: You idiot!
Speaker 11: Do not be angry at your spirit guide. I was so hoping that you would be the one. But alas, it's not to be.
Speaker 2: Sir, we are.
Speaker 18: Very sorry for your loss, but hey, come on. 20 years?
Speaker 20: You still do not understand, do you, young man? Amber is coming back. Yeah, sure she is. I'm sure that you believe that. Or at least you want to believe it.
Speaker 4: I think someone is at the door.
Speaker 11: You both are such fools. meddling about in a world you have no business in.
Speaker 4: Um, George? I think we need to be going.
Speaker 11: Going? Oh, my dear, you must stay and meet Amber.
Speaker 18: But isn't your wife dead?
Speaker 11: For 20 years. You see, it's almost 1113. Wait, Miss Crowley. Do you think that I picked you You were open and honest about your so-called abilities. If you had been genuine, then Amber would have been able to return to me.
Speaker 18: Leah, what is he talking about?
Speaker 4: I'm not sure.
Speaker 11: Each year, on the anniversary of her death, I try to find a subject. A female subject who will be suitable for her. For twenty years, I have searched... You were supposed to be the one.
Speaker 18: Do you mean you actually believe that your wife was coming back and taking over Leah's body?
Speaker 11: It would have worked.
Speaker 4: But that's crazy. Come on, George. Let's get out of here.
Speaker 11: I'm afraid it's too late for that. You see, Amber is coming. And now she is hungry.
Speaker 3: Oh, Jesus.
Speaker 18: Leah, look out.
Speaker 3: What the hell?
Speaker 11: It is exactly 11.13. Ah, Amber. So good to see you. I hope that your meal is satisfactory. You even have a second course.
Speaker 10: Perhaps next year, My dear Amber, we will find someone who will.
Speaker 11: Suit you.
Speaker 1: Kenneth Ravenscroft shakes his head sadly. He knows that another year will pass by before he can try to bring Amber back from her grave. You make it back here for a final word.
Speaker 3: There.

Speaker 11: I would really like to help you, Danielle.
Speaker 3: I really would.
Speaker 4: You have a treasure around here. Although, looking at the way you live, you wouldn't know it.
