Speaker 1: One The author, Richelle Goodrich, wrote, There are many who do not wish to sleep for fear of nightmares. Sadly, there are many who do not wish to wake for the same fear. With that being said, permit me to introduce... Brandy Stewart, a very pretty girl who married what can only be considered, and I quote from people who know him, a useless turd of a man, if you can call him that. Stephen is the kind of a person that blames others for his own failings, and the one he blames the most is his wife, Brandy.
Speaker 3: No, Carol. Everything's fine. Yes, fine.
Speaker 7: I know what I told you, and I remember what you said. Look, I can't talk about it right now. I'm running late. You know how he is.
Speaker 3: Yes, even if it's just a couple minutes. I already had to take pictures just to show.
Speaker 7: Him where I was. I'll think about it, Carol. Look, I'll call you later if I can. I'm pulling into the driveway now.
Speaker 2: Gotta go. Okay.
Speaker 3: You can do this, Brandy. Just take a deep breath.
Speaker 1: There.
Speaker 3: That's better.
Speaker 7: Okay.
Speaker 3: Let's go face the storm. Well, well, well.
Speaker 1: Look who it is. Finally.
Speaker 3: Steven, I tried. I really tried.
Speaker 4: And only seven minutes late.
Speaker 3: I told you the traffic was.
Speaker 4: And now the excuses begin.
Speaker 3: Stephen, please. I'm not trying to make.
Speaker 4: You asked me to go to the store. You told me you would only be gone 15 minutes. Please, Stephen. I gave you 15 minutes, and here you are 7 minutes late.
Speaker 3: I sent you the pictures. I was stuck behind a school bus.
Speaker 1: Give me your phone.
Speaker 3: What? My phone? Why do you want.
Speaker 3: But what will that.
Speaker 4: Give me your damn phone or I'm going to kick you right in the head!
Speaker 7: Fine.
Speaker 2: Ow!
Speaker 3: Ow!
Speaker 2: Here!

Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
Speaker 1: Just makes it all better, doesn't it?
Speaker 3: I really wish you wouldn't smoke in the house.
Speaker 1: Really?
Speaker 4: In my own home?
Speaker 3: It's just that the smoke is really bad for my... And there you go.
Speaker 1: It's always about you.
Speaker 3: No, of course not.
Speaker 4: I was just... Well, then I'll just put it out.
Speaker 3: Ow!
Speaker 2: Stop it!
Speaker 3: You didn't have to throw it at me. You're going to burn the house down. Oh, what's the matter?
Speaker 4: Don't you like to smoke?
Speaker 2: Ow!
Speaker 3: Stop it! That hurts!
Speaker 4: You're lucky I'm just throwing them at you. Oh, I could do a whole lot worse.
Speaker 2: No.
Speaker 1: No.
Speaker 2: No.
Speaker 1: Where are you?
Speaker 4: Where am I?
Speaker 1: No.
Speaker 2: No!
Speaker 4: No!
Speaker 3: Steven. Steven, wake up.
Speaker 2: No.
Speaker 4: No, no, no.
Speaker 3: Steven. What?
Speaker 1: What?
Speaker 3: Are you okay?
Speaker 2: What's going on?
Speaker 3: You were just having a bad dream or something. Are you okay?
Speaker 1: It was horrible.
Speaker 3: God.
Speaker 1: It was so.
Speaker 3: It was so... There, there, babe. It's okay. It was just a bad dream. Don't worry. I'm here.
Speaker 1: I have had nightmares. In fact, quite a few of them. Waking up from such a dream causes disorientation, and a sense of fear that is not easily forgotten. I'll be back shortly with Act 2. Which is the true nightmare, asked author Justin Arcala. the horrific dream that you have in your sleep, or the dissatisfied reality that awaits you when you wake.
Speaker 3: Carol, I just don't know what to do. Yes, I know what you said, but it's just not that easy. Look, I'll call you when I'm able to.
Speaker 2: Yes.
Speaker 3: Well, Steven said he may have to work late. Yes, I will. And thank you. I don't know what I would do without you.
Speaker 4: Oh, what am I doing here? It's a strange park.
Speaker 1: Dark. And a fridge.
Speaker 3: A figure sitting over there. Who is that? Who are you?
Speaker 4: It's been the same dream. Every night.
Speaker 3: Maybe you've been working too hard.
Speaker 4: But it seems so.
Speaker 1: real.
Speaker 3: But it is just a dream.
Speaker 4: Don't tell me that it's.
Speaker 1: Just a dream.
Speaker 4: I've been having it every night for a week now.
Speaker 4: Are you trying to poison me? Put something in my food?
Speaker 2: No, no.
Speaker 3: Stephen, maybe you should see someone. A doctor or.
Speaker 4: Are you trying to tell me that I'm crazy?
Speaker 3: Of course not. I would never... I'm not crazy.
Speaker 4: I see him.
Speaker 1: It just.
Speaker 4: Sitting there he's all in black he's got a hood hiding his face i want to run but i only move closer to him every time i get closer to him i think i'll see who it is but then
Speaker 4: then i'm not gonna have you saying that i'm insane.
Speaker 2: No.
Speaker 6: No.
Speaker 4: Stay away from me. Stay away. No, for God's sake, stop!
Speaker 3: Steven!
Speaker 4: Wake up!
Speaker 3: What the hell? He's gonna get me!
Speaker 4: His jaw. Unhinged. Sharp teeth.
Speaker 2: What is?
Speaker 3: He's biting me. What is?
Speaker 4: That thing sitting on the park bench over there.
Speaker 3: Stephen, you're awake. There is no park bench. There's no creature, hon.
Speaker 4: Could have sworn.
Speaker 1: No, no. I saw him.
Speaker 4: He stood up this time. He grabbed at me.
Speaker 3: Stephen, you're home in our bed. Nothing is coming for you.
Speaker 1: What is it?
Speaker 3: Let me turn the light on.
Speaker 4: What are you looking at?
Speaker 3: Oh, my God. The side of your face. Your neck.
Speaker 1: Why?
Speaker 2: You're bleeding.
Speaker 3: No, it can't be. It looks like puncture marks. What did you do to me?
Speaker 4: Steven, I would never. You bit me?
Speaker 3: How dare you? I swear, I would never do anything to hurt you.
Speaker 1: No, no, no. Not you.
Speaker 4: That thing did this.
Speaker 1: What the hell are you?
Speaker 3: Did you like the movie?
Speaker 1: What?
Speaker 3: The movie. Did you like it?
Speaker 4: I wasn't watching it.
Speaker 3: Well, you picked it out, remember? Oh, honey, why don't you just go to bed?
Speaker 2: Bed?
Speaker 4: Did you really just say bed?
Speaker 3: Well, you haven't been sleeping very well, and it's been over a week now. I just thought.
Speaker 4: Yeah, well, that's your problem. You always just think.
Speaker 3: I'm sorry. You're always sorry.
Speaker 4: We all know that you're sorry, but.
Speaker 3: Ding.
Speaker 4: It's waiting for me. Don't you get it?
Speaker 3: What thing? The thing in the hood.
Speaker 4: The one that keeps making me go to that park bench.
Speaker 3: But it's just a dream.
Speaker 1: Is it? I wonder.
Speaker 4: I'm far enough away from that stupid park bench.
Speaker 3: You can't get me now.
Speaker 2: Stop it. Oh, God.
Speaker 3: Stop it.
Speaker 7: Stop it.
Speaker 3: Steven.
Speaker 2: Wake up.
Speaker 3: Steven.
Speaker 1: He clawed me.
Speaker 3: Brady. Brady. He hurt me.
Speaker 4: He's trying to rip me apart.
Speaker 3: Oh, dear God. Your chest. Your neck. What have you done to yourself? Don't let him hurt me anymore.
Speaker 1: Please.
Speaker 2: Just hold me.
Speaker 3: Come here. Hush now. It's okay. It's okay.
Speaker 5: I'm here.
Speaker 3: I won't let anything happen to you.
Speaker 1: John Lennon once asked, who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now? Stephen's nightmares seem to be invading his reality. But then, what is reality? I'll be back with our final act shortly.
Speaker 2: H.P.
Speaker 1: Lovecraft wrote, It is absolutely necessary that some of Earth's dark, dead corners be let alone, lest sleeping abnormalities and blasphemously surviving nightmares squirm out of their black layers to newer, And wider conquests.
Speaker 3: No, Carol. I just got home. No. If anything, it's getting worse. He's irritable.
Speaker 6: Irrational.
Speaker 3: He's seeing things that aren't there. I'm not sure how much more I can take.
Speaker 2: Look, I gotta go.
Speaker 3: I'll call you later.
Speaker 2: Okay, bye. Stephen?
Speaker 3: Are you here?
Speaker 6: Stephen?
Speaker 3: Where are you? I'm over here. What are you doing sitting in the dark?
Speaker 1: I accidentally fell asleep.
Speaker 4: He was waiting for me.
Speaker 3: Honey, it's just bad dreams. Dreams can't hurt you.
Speaker 2: Oh no?
Speaker 3: No?
Speaker 4: Did I bite myself? Did I chew my own face off? Did I claw my skin off?
Speaker 3: I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation.
Speaker 4: Can explain this oh.
Speaker 3: My what did you do no.
Speaker 4: Stupid little for once it.
Speaker 1: Wasn't you.
Speaker 4: It was him he did this to me.
Speaker 7: I can see the bones in your face you ripped your neck.
Speaker 3: Open what have you done what have you done We need to get you to the hospital.
Speaker 2: No.
Speaker 4: No, no, no hospital.
Speaker 3: Babe, those aren't just bad scratches. You're bleeding. You're bleeding.
Speaker 1: He had really sharp teeth.
Speaker 4: He had really long, sharp teeth.
Speaker 3: Steven, you're scaring me. Please stop it. Let's get you some help. You're scaring me.
Speaker 1: I'm scaring you?
Speaker 4: You haven't met him. Who are you?
Speaker 3: What do you want from me?
Speaker 2: Grrrr!
Speaker 1: How much more do you want?
Speaker 4: What do you want?
Speaker 3: Who the hell are you? I have to know!
Speaker 4: Are you afraid to show me? Pull back your hood.
Speaker 5: Let me see.
Speaker 2: Oh my....
Speaker 1: God, not you.
Speaker 2: Brandy? It was you? I told you. No.
Speaker 4: I would always take care of you. Hi.
Speaker 3: It's me. Carol, it's done.
Speaker 5: I can't thank you and the congregation enough. Let everyone know that I'm gonna be just fine.
Speaker 3: Yes! Love you too.
Speaker 1: Steven Stewart, a little turd of a man who would blame his own shortcomings on everyone else, but mostly his wife, Brandy. She now smiles, admiring the frightened look of terror on his face, now frozen forever. In death. I'll be back shortly with a final word. Is all that we see or seem but a dream within a dream? Simply a question that Poe once asked. Have we provided an answer for you? Or does the question have many answers? Maybe your own nightmares hold the truth. Our cast included Crimson McKenzie and Winslow Swan.
Speaker 1: The story was written and directed by Crimson McKenzie. This is your host, Artemis Black, inviting you to return with us through the doorway to Nightmare for another adventure into the terrifying world of your imagination. Until next time, slumber peacefully. Epilogue. The butler did it.
